IMCZY driving to co-found the Global Green Shipyard Alliance to transform Sustainable Green and Innovative Development in Global Ship Maintenance Industry
2025-05-19
China, May 2025: IMC Shipyard (Zhoushan) Co., Ltd. (“IMCZY”), part of the IMC Shipyard Services Group under TPC Group, is helping to establish the Global Green Shipyard Alliance (GGSA). This international alliance brings together leading shipyards worldwide to promote sustainable and innovative practices across the global ship maintenance industry. The initiative marks a new era, positioning green and technology-driven shipyards as a model for the industry’s sustainable development.
The GGSA was initiated by its co-founder, IMCZY, following the first International Forum and Demonstration held in March 2019 in Zhoushan, China. The event, themed “Driving the Technology Revolution Together & Providing a Green Solution for Global Ship Maintenance,” aimed to promote high-quality green transformation in the global shipping industry. This strategic vision and practical proposal resonated with like-minded partners who share a commitment to green and sustainable development, including Alimia Shipyard Group (comprising Astican, Astander, and Astibal shipyards in Spain & Panama), BREDO Dry Docks GmbH (Germany), Drydocks World (UAE), and Sefine Shipyard (Turkey), despite differences in nationality, region and culture.
Driving Green Transformation, Forging a Sustainable Ecosystem
As the global maritime industry works faster to meet climate goals and places greater emphasis on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) performance, the GGSA is making sustainability its core mission. The alliance will set green transformation goals for the industry’s supply chain and operations within the ESG framework. It will also encourage innovation and the improvement of standards through cross-regional cooperation. The GGSA will focus on applying green technologies, sustainable practices, and eco-friendly solutions in ship maintenance to lower carbon emissions and enhance the safety and efficiency of operations.
Commitment to Responsibility, Vision for the Future
Mr. Chen Yong, President of IMCZY and Managing Director of Shipyard Services Group, stated:
“The launch of the GGSA is a major step forward in our strategic vision for sustainable development in the ship maintenance industry. It reflects our ongoing commitment to leading and promoting green practices across the sector. We strongly believe that the integration of green technologies, low-carbon approaches, and digital innovation—working together as a unified force—will become central to the future of shipbuilding. GGSA will remain focused on sustainable development and continuous innovation in ship maintenance technologies and equipment. In practice, we will leverage AI to deliver comprehensive solutions and scalable models that support the industry and better serve our customers and partners.”
The creation of the GGSA reflects the broader transformation taking place in the global shipping industry’s supply chain. It symbolizes the courage and responsibility of ship maintenance companies engaging in cross-border cooperation and collaborative development amid climate change and complex economic challenges.
As a co-founder of GGSA, IMCZY is committed to working closely with our partners to maximize the Alliance’s influence in international markets. We are confident that with the Alliance’s growing membership and collective efforts, our vision of reshaping the ship maintenance industry toward sustainable development will soon become a reality.
Together, we aim to protect our planet and oceans, build a green maritime supply chain, and lead the way in developing a sustainable future for the ship maintenance industry. We are fully committed to this journey.
