2025-06-11

Following the establishment of the ESG System Construction and Digital Strategic Agreement in International Ship Maintenance Industry project by DNV and IMC Shipyard (Zhoushan) Co., Ltd. (IMCZY) in July 2024,on June 3, 2025, two parties summarized phase achievements of cooperative projects and engaged in in-depth exchanges centered on " Promoting Sustainable Development in Global Ship Repair Industry ", exploring cutting-edge practices and future directions for green transformation of global ship repair industry at Nor-Shipping 2025 – the leading international maritime exhibition and conference in Oslo, Norway.

Under the cooperative framework agreement, IMCZY and DNV have executed multiple milestone projects. During the construction process of these projects, triple value creation was expected to be secured:

● Environmental Protection Dimension: Constructing precise monitoring systems for environmental pollution and carbon management, effectively controlling pollution emissions, improving resource utilization efficiency, realizing full-process environmental footprint traceability, and ensuring compliant operations and environmental sustainability.

Social Responsibility Dimension: Forming a trinity responsibility community of employees, communities, and clients, enhancing harmonious relationships between enterprises and stakeholders, making enterprises amplifiers of social value.

● Corporate Governance Dimension: Building transparent and efficient modern governance paradigms, optimizing internal management processes, elevating scientificity and transparency of decision-making, and strengthening overall competitiveness and risk resilience capabilities.

The realization of these triple value creations marks that ship repair enterprises will transform from passive environmental adaptors to proactive ecological co-builders, jointly constructing a greener and smarter natural ecosystem for global ship repair industry, and the construction and practice of these projects provide referable, replicable, and sustainable development templates for global ship repair enterprises.

Building upon the collaboration of ESG projects, IMCZY systematically summarized practical experience and, established the International ESG Management System Construction and Evaluation Reference Criteria for Sustainable Development of Ship Repair Enterprises (Industry) under DNVs guidance. This reference criteria provides a framework for global ship repair enterprises (industry) to construct sustainable operational systems and establish scientific evaluation standards, guiding ship repair enterprises (industry)  into the phase of green ecological development.

During the collaboration, DNV provided professional advice and suggestions to IMCZY, assisting in the successful implementation of these projects. Two parties will continue collaborating to promote ESG digitalization in broader practices. These pioneering project constructions have established the forward direction for sustainable development in global ship repair industry, providing practical and actionable implementation guidelines for ship repair enterprises.

During Nor-Shipping 2025, DNV and IMCZY conducted in-depth exchanges on sustainable development of global ship repair industry. Moving forward, two parties will uphold the development philosophy of "Green Technology, Digital Intelligence, Responsible Value," implement development strategies, persistently explore and innovate to forge the future, and make unremitting efforts to contribute to new supply chain construction and sustainable development of global ship repair industry.
