IMCZY Successfully Completes Emergency Sea Damage Repair on MV ROTTERDAM EXPRESS, Delivers Three Days Ahead of Schedule with High Praise

IMCZY recently completed the emergency repair of vessel M.V. ROTTERDAM EXPRESS following sea damage, delivering the vessel three days ahead of schedule and earning high praise from the shipowner.

The vessel is Hapag-LloydsHamburg Express Class 23,660 TEU LNG dual-fuel container ship serving the Gemini Network, ranking among the world's largest and most energy-efficient LNG-powered vessels. In August of 2025, the vessel contacted with a breakwater at Tangier Med under pilotage due to strong wind, resulting in approximately 40 meters of damage to the hull plating withmultiple ballast tanks affected. The repair work muststrictly adhere to newbuilding specifications, with a tight schedule that allowed no time for rework.

Facing the challenges, IMCZY quickly assembled a specialized team and completed the prefabrication and coating of 150 tons of steel modules in advance. To address the unique requirements of LNG vessel repair and confined workspace limitations, multiple departments developed detailed plans including comprehensive HSSE plan and emergency response procedure to ensure worksite safety and high-efficiency collaborations. Overcoming obstacles such as strong winds during the dock period, the team successfully completed the project ahead of schedule while ensuring safety and quality.

Throughout the 18days’ repair period, the yard team, the owners representative and the ship's crew maintained excellent cooperation and conducted technical exchanges on LNG dual-fuel vessel technologies.
